Getting kids back to school and the temperature dropping are just a few signs that fall is here. It's also a sign that it's time to start preparing for the 2011 camp season and thinking about the improvements you want to implement for next year.
Now is the time to start promoting next year's programs while the memories of the "Summer of 2010" are still fresh in campers and parents minds. Last month we shared our Strategic Camps Checklist with you to help you identify any gaps in revenue, retention, and referral opportunities. This month, we have another great resource to help get you thinking about how to better showcase your camp online with tips and tricks for a more effective website. Additionally, over the course of the last year, we’ve made product enhancements based on your input to help your camp be more successful. Read about how our Point of Sale solutions can help make it easier for you to manage your camp store and drive more revenue by allowing parents to add money to their child’s account online.
With fall upon us, it’s our time to turn over a new leaf. Our new leaf includes a transition from CampRegister to our parent name, Active Network, which you will start to see in the coming months on our website, case studies, articles, advertising, etc.
We hope you enjoy this issue of ActiveCamps. We are always looking for your feedback, so please email us with your comments and suggestions. We look forward to hearing from you.

As most of you know, CampRegister was acquired by Active Network over three years ago. This Fall marks an important milestone as we finally retire the CampRegister name and are officially known in the camps world as Active Network. This name change also represents the first step in improving the value proposition we hope to bring to you and the camps industry as a whole. While the CampRegister brand has been around for a long time and has amassed a very large user base, we believe that camp operators will benefit more by realizing the full benefits that a network can bring – the Active Network.
As CampRegister, we have primarily been your technology partner— we provided you with registration and management tools, but it was entirely up to you to handle the critical job of promoting your camp. As Active Network, we’ll continue to be a great technology partner, but we also want to become your promotional partner as well. Our goal is to provide you the software tools that save you time and money and promotional tools to help drive new customers to your camp.

How To: Manage Camper Accounts with Point of Sale Integration
|
|
| |
|
 |
|
Active Network’s Point of Sale (POS) integration helps camp operators incorporate a cashless store. By allowing parents to load money into their account or add additional money while at camp, parents no longer need to send their kid to camp with cash. Money deposited (typically $20-$50 per camper) can be used to purchase any items sold within the Point of Sale system. Point of Sale system can be used to track purchases, inventory levels, and money still left on camp store credit. It’s a great way to boost revenue and capture it sooner.
- Pushes purchase amounts of a camp store deposits into the management system
- Camp Store Balance can be used by camper to purchase items while at camp
- Allows parents to view current camper balances and add to balance from online account
Maximize the use of your existing Point of Sale hardware such as touch-screen monitors, cash drawers, receipt printers, etc. and use in a whole new way to help streamline camp purchases and help parents better manage their child’s funds.

Your camp website is typically the first place that families turn to when evaluating a camp. Your camp website is one of the most used and most powerful tools to promote your camp, hear what campers say about camp, and showcase all that your camp has to offer. As such, it’s something that can’t slip to the wayside and needs regular maintenance.
Click here to download Active Network's "Online Marketing: Camp Websites" and learn the 5 best practices to ensure your camp’s website passes the test.
